V1: KSL Wine Agent

Wine Agent demonstrates machine interface to a knowledge base ("KB") using a web-based ontological mark-up language. That is, by combining a logical reasoner (called JTP) with an OWL ontology, this example implementation operates over a domain that can one day exist as a web of interfacing definitions. Thus the agent's operation can be described in three parts--consulting the ontology, performing queries, and outputting results. An example interaction traced through these three phases will precede an elaboration on why this application uses ontologies, and how future agents might continue to do so.

V2: TW Wine Agent

The TW Wine Agent represents the next generation of the KSL Wine Agent [1]. It uses an updated version of the wine ontology, which was was originally made available through an early paper on description logics.

V3: Tetherless Wine Agent

The Tetherless World Wine Agent is a demonstration platform for a large variety of Semantic Web techologies in a rich domain and is derived from previous work in the field of reasoning systems [1] [2]. This version of the Wine Agent currently runs on Apple's iPhone® and iPod touch® platforms, with goals to build a desktop and Android® version in the future.
